GTA 3 Main Protagonist

The protagonist and playable character of GTA III is the silent Claude.

Claude

Claude is a character that appears as a Main Protagonist in Grand Theft Auto III.

Claude is a criminal who traveled to Liberty City to engage in more criminal activity. In the opening stages of the game, he is betrayed by his then-girlfriend, Catalina.

Now under arrest, he manages to escape with his new acquaintance 8-Ball while they're been transported to Portland Island.

From then onwards, he is out for revenge on Catalina while also forming alliances with many factions from Liberty City's criminal underworld.

Claude is the only protagonist in GTA history to not speak, just occasionally making sounds.

The character of Claude also appears in GTA San Andreas.

Major Characters

The major characters in the storyline of GTA III. This includes Claude's friends, the main antagonists and other important mission characters.

Catalina

Catalina appears as a Major Character and Antagonist in Grand Theft Auto III.

Catalina is Claude's former girlfriend that travels with him to Liberty City.

In the opening stages of the game, Catalina betrays Claude during a bank robbery, leading to him getting arrested.

Catalina then goes on to join the Colombian Cartel and become one of the largest drug dealers of SPANK in Liberty City.

The character of Catalina also appears in GTA San Andreas.

Miguel

Miguel appears as a Major Character and Antagonist in Grand Theft Auto III.

Miguel is a high-ranking member of the Colombian Cartel and one of Catalina's closest allies.

He will often travel with Catalina to their deals of SPANK and will protect her if need be.

The character of Miguel also appears in GTA Liberty City Stories.

8-Ball

8-Ball appears as a Major Character in Grand Theft Auto III.

8-Ball is an explosives expert and owner of 8-Ball Autos.

He befriends Claude when they both make an escape from a convoy that was transporting them to prison.

8-Ball helps Claude get back on his feet by finding him work with the Leone Family. He also helps out Claude with some of his criminal activity.

The character of 8-Ball also appears in GTA Liberty City Stories.

Luigi Goterelli

Luigi Goterelli appears as a Major Character in Grand Theft Auto III.

Luigi is the owner of Luigi's Sex Club 7 and a high-ranking member of the Leone Family.

He meets Claude early on in the game and gives him various jobs to do around Liberty City.

Luigi also acts as a pimp for various prostitutes that work out and about around Portland Island.

Joey Leone

Joey Leone appears as a Major Character in Grand Theft Auto III.

Joey is the son of Leone Family Don, Salvatore Leone and also runs Joey's Auto Painting, a garage in Trenton.

He employs Claude to help him out with some issues he's been having with local rival gangs.

Toni Cipriani

Toni Cipriani appears as a Major Character in Grand Theft Auto III.

Toni is the Capo of the Leone Family.

He is mostly based out of Momma's Restaurante, a restaurant run by his mom, and will occasionally help out.

Despite helping out where he can, his mom is often berating him.

Tony Cipriani is also the main protagonist of GTA Liberty City Stories, the prequel of GTA III.

The character of Toni Cipriani also appears in GTA Liberty City Stories.

Salvatore Leone

Salvatore Leone appears as a Major Character and Antagonist in Grand Theft Auto III.

Salvatore is the Don of the Leone Family. He also owns the Salvatore's Gentleman's Club which he will often work out of.

He meets Claude during a meeting and takes a liking to him.

Salvatore gives Claude various jobs which benefit the Leone Family.

The character of Salvatore Leone also appears in GTA San Andreas and GTA Liberty City Stories.

Maria Latore

Maria Latore appears as a Major Character in Grand Theft Auto III.

Maria is the wife of Salvatore Leone.

Maria takes a liking to Claude and eventually runs away with him to Staunton Island when Claude needs to escape.

The character of Maria Latore also appears in GTA San Andreas and GTA Liberty City Stories.

Kenji Kasen

Kenji Kasen appears as a Major Character in Grand Theft Auto III.

Kenji is a member of the Yakuza.

He also owns and runs Kenji's Casino in Torrington.

He is the co-leader of the Yakuza, alongside Asuka Kasen, and will give Claude jobs after being recommended him by Asuka.

Ray Machowski

Ray Machowski appears as a Major Character in Grand Theft Auto III.

Ray is a corrupt LCPD officer and also acts as an informant to the Yakuza.

Due to his corruption, Ray will often meet Claude at Belleville Park to give him jobs and not draw attention to himself.

He is increasing paranoid due to the CIA investigating him for his affiliation with the Yakuza.

The character of Ray Machowski also appears in GTA Liberty City Stories.

Donald Love

Donald Love appears as a Major Character in Grand Theft Auto III.

Donald is the owner of Love Media and a real estate developer.

He employs Claude to carry out various tasks with him and the pair form a friendship. All of the tasks Donald gets Claude to perform are mostly to help his real estate business, including creating a gang war so property prices will plummet.
